Ultrafast broadband (UFB)
UFB offers access speeds up to 1Gbps and is available in almost all areas of New Zealand.
What's UFB?
Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) is NZ’s Government initiated and backed fibre to the premise (FTTP) rollout. The program of work commenced in 2011 courtesy of 4 fibre companies that were selected for the project. Initial targets have all been met with metro areas complete, additional smaller towns are now being connected.
Where's UFB Available?
UFB services are largely provided in a uniform fashion (in terms of speed and price points at least), but the actual delivery is handled by 4 different fibre companies (Chorus, Enable, Ultra Fast Fibre, Northpower) with a a clear geographical mandate provided to each carrier by the Government.
Why choose UFB?
UFB is the most widely available access type, and with so many types of service variants available, there is usually an option that will suit your customers’ needs. Our price points, backed by our industry-leading real-time service insights, offer great value for money.

Service types and speed
UFB is a catch all term for FTTP services provided under the rollout, with options under that umbrella term typically divided into two key categories, BS2 and BS3.
BS2 is a single VLAN capable best effort service with a maximum speed of Max/500 (“Max” meaning access speed of 1Gbps, but real world speeds a little below that). BS2 services may have an SLA with a slower restore target, but that varies by carrier/location.
BS3 offers symmetrical best effort Max/Max speeds, multi-VLAN capability and comes with an enterprise SLA across all 4 UFB providers.

Why Lightwire's UFB?
Congestion Free Network
Speed is a critical factor in determining whether an Internet Service Provider (ISP) is up to scratch, and one of the easiest ways for an ISP to ensure that it can provide the best possible speeds is to run a network free of congestion.
Lightwire invests heavily in our network with our most utilised handovers averaging less than 50% of their capacity – meaning your business will receive a quality internet service with minimal latency.
Price
UFB services come with unlimited data, static IP, free install options available, 24/7 Lightwire support, and illume – your advantage in providing the best possible experience for your clients.
